Anne Krawitz has been a professional bookbinder since 1989. She apprenticed from 1986-1987 with bookbinder Bill Streeter in Northampton, Massachusetts. In 1987-1988, she studied in England at the Guildford Technical College in the Fine Binding and Conservation program. In 1994, she was a Mellon Conservation Intern at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. She has owned and operated Anne Krawitz Hand Bookbinding since 1990 and, more recently, the AKA Bindery specializing in custom clamshell boxes with her husband Carlton Harris.
Clients have included The Byzantine Library at Dumbarton Oaks, The Clements Library at the University of Michigan, The Quaker Historical Society at Swarthmore College, Fleischer Music Collection at the Philadelphia Free Library, The Jones Library in Amherst Massachusetts, The Union League, many historical societies on the east coast and a variety of book dealers and private collectors.
